Financial literacy professionals in Botswana were exhilarated to learn that Barclays Bank of Botswana will be partnering with the Finance Society of the University of Botswana to educate the university’s student population on financial-related topics.  The announcement comes on the heels of greater awareness of the need for heightened levels of financial literacy among Botswana’s young people.

The initial topics to be covered by Barclays Bank in its hosted workshops this month will be insurance and banking.  These workshops are open to students from many areas across the University of Botswana.

This financial education news announced by Barclays Bank represents just the latest in a string of moves by financial services companies to position themselves as leaders in the fast-growing financial literacy movement.  These institutions are among the best situated to provide workshops, programs and resources to impart critical skills to population segments that traditionally lacked financial literacy.
