Football Star Scores Financial Literacy Touchdown

Former Crimson Tide football great and Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram, Jr. is leveraging his football skills and popularity among young people to teach them about important financial and economic concepts in an effort to empower them to make more informed decisions regarding their financial affairs.  In his latest move to help promote financial literacy, Ingram led a group of students in a competition against another group of students led by Alabama State Treasurer Young Boozer as they played “Financial Football” which is a video game that educates students about key financial matters.

Financial Football remains a highly popular initiative.  It was developed by Visa and has been promoted by Regions Bank in Alabama to drive awareness about financial literacy and to make learning about financial concepts more fun and interesting for students.

The initiative will be available throughout Alabama’s public middle and high schools over the course of the next several months and, based on the program’s success in other regions, many believe that Financial Football will make a significant impact in terms of greater visibility and support for financial education throughout the state.
