Today’s Financial Literacy Roundup: From Schools in Uganda to Universities in the U.S.

The global financial literacy community is buzzing over the announcement by Vision Group that it has signed a contract with the United Bank of Africa to provide financial literacy to secondary school students in Uganda. Under the partnership, Vision Group will distribute a total of 1,500 copies of The New Vision title to 15 schools around Uganda. This is significant for the country, where financial education training is important.  In addition to providing financial literacy training, the Bank also will provide classic African literature books. Another story topping today’s headlines is news out of Indiana University, which has announced that it will be conducting a financial literacy study based on their student base. The research will include a survey that will collect information based on demographics, financial priorities and levels of financial literacy. The faculty’s research will aim to measure the financial understanding of their graduate students in order to develop a proper financial literacy training program.
