State Bank of Pakistan Launches Financial Literacy Initiative

by | 08/29/13 | Commentary, Uncategorized

Headlining today’s global financial literacy news is the State Bank of Pakistan’s announcement that it will launch financial literacy and awareness programs at the grass roots level.  A central component of the program is to educate the populace, particularly the farming community, about agri-financing products and services offered by banks.  Farmers across Pakistan will now have the opportunity to learn about money management techniques, as well as gain an understanding of the lending process.

The Farmers Financial Literacy and Awareness Programme, as it is called, underscores the commitment of the State Bank, as well as the banking sector generally, to raise the level of financial literacy in the country, with the goal of improving the lives of the citizenry, including those in the agricultural sector.  This support parallels the fast-growing financial literacy movement in other nations in the region, as financial education continues to take center stage in the area of global social enterprise, awareness and solutions.
